The 27-year-old Cameroon international has attracted interest from Liverpool, and had West Ham keen on a permanent transfer, following some impressive form, but has dropped off recently.

Song hinted that he would be more willing to stay with the Hammers should they qualify for the Champions League, as Liverpool looked to hijack any potential move.

A string of injuries preventing him from training have taken their toll on the Barcelona player though, meaning he is now a shadow of his early season self. He even gave away a 90th minute penalty away at Tottenham, losing his side s vital three points in the race for European football.

Both sides now look set to see if he can recapture his form before making any move for a permanent deal.
