The 25-year-old is currently the club’s longest serving player, but is now in the final year of his contract, which is believed to be worth around £90,000 per week.

The Gunners have offered him new terms to prolong his stay, but reports close to the England star are claiming that he is in no rush to agree to the deal and would prefer to wait until the summer before making a decision.

Having recently returned to first team action after recovering from injury, Arsene Wenger had hoped to make him one of the highest players in the squad by tying him down to a five-year contract.
