Kiev manager Sergei Rebrov, formerly of Arsenal’s fiercest rivals Tottenham Hotspur, is determined to keep hold of the 24-year-old Austrian international, who was part of the side which clinched the Ukraninan Cup last season.

Dragovic, who joined Kiev from Swiss outift FC Basel in the summer of 2013, has developed a reputation as a tough tackling defender and was strongly linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United in the January transfer window.

A potential move to the Emirates Stadium could cast doubts over vice-captain Per Mertesacker’s future at the club, after the arrival of Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista early in the year, the addition of another centre-back would appear to put the German World Cup winner’s place under threat.
