The defender’s current deal was due to end in June this year, but PSG have now tied the former Ajax and Inter Milan man to a year extension. Maxwell will now remain at the Parc des Princes until at least 2016.

The 33-year-old was delighted to have agreed new terms.

“I am very proud of the confidence that the president and all the club have given me,” Maxwell began, speaking to PSG’s official website.

“I am going to continue to give everything until we attain our objectives.”

The full-back joined the club in 2012 after three years and 92 matches with Barcelona. To date he has featured 128 times for the capital club and has won the French title, the Trophy of Champions and the League Cup with Paris.

He won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2011 and has featured 72 times in Europe’s premier continental club competition.
