The former Chelsea man is a key figure for Laurent Blanc’s side, and his absence creates a potential problem for the reigning champions in the heart of the defence.

In his place, veteran stopper Zoumana Camara will take position alongside Thiago Silva. The centre-back is an experienced operator, and a former France international, but he represents a weak link for PSG.

Camara replaced the injured Luiz against Bordeaux last weekend struggled in that match-only his seventh Ligue 1 performance of the campaign.

At times, the former Saint-Etienne looked to be on top of the Bordelais attackers, but by the match’s conclusion, he was overrun and contributed to PSG’s late defeat.

On Friday he will come up against Jordan Ayew of Ghana and Lorient.

While by no means a perfect poacher, Jordan-who will likely work in tandem with Benjamin Jeannot-has a fine turn of pace and will look to trouble the 35-year-old Camara.

Can Lorient target PSG’s weak link and set themselves up for an unlikely upset at the Parc des Princes on Friday evening?
