Paris Saint-Germain returned to the top of the Ligue 1 table with a 3-1 victory over FC Lorient.
Even though their opponents are struggling in the midst of a relegation battle, PSG made hard work of picking up the three points in front of their own fans.
They took an early lead from the spot after goalkeeper Benjamin Lemonte brought down Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the area three minutes into the match.
PSG failed to take control of the contest with a second goal, and Lorient’s pressure paid when they equalised through a superb Jordan Ayew effort.
Les Merlus could have taken the lead moments later when Ayew struck again, but Marco Verratti was on hand to head clear off the line.
The close shave appeared to give Paris a second wind and the home side launched forward. Their pressure told and Lamine Kone gave away a penalty when he brought down Javier Pastore…Zlatan converted for his second of the match.
As Lorient pushed forward in search of an equaliser, space opened up and Zlatan killed the match in the dying minutes with this powerful finish when he found himself one-on-one against the goalkeeper.
