Arsenal have been given a major boost in their chase for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu as he continues to stall on a new contract with the Bundesliga club, reports Turkish Football.
The Gunners have supposedly been following the Turkish international for two years, and he could add to their already burgeoning options in attacking midfield.
The German side are keen to keep their highly rated 21-year-old though, and it may take a big offer to tempt them to sell.
However, Arsene Wenger’s attempts to sign him will be boosted by his stalling on a new deal.
His current contract ends in 2019, but it would seem that Leverkusen are looking to give him a new improved deal in a bid to ward off potential suitors.
Whether it would be the best idea for Arsenal to sign yet another playmaker, when there are other areas of their squad that look in more need of improvement, is another matter.
