Both Norwich City and Nottingham Forest are after the 19-year-old but Bournemouth, Ipswich Town, Derby County, Wigan Athletic and Fulham are also trying to capture Akpom on a temporary basis, reports Independent.

Akpom only recently signed a new four-and-a-half year deal at Arsenal, after turning down the advances of several clubs as he approached the end of his previous deal.

Akpom has so far made seven substitute appearances for the Gunners this season but since Theo Walcott’s return to fitness he has found it hard to force his way into Arsene Wenger’s first team set-up.

However, a loan move to a second-tier side is likely seen as the next stage in his progression with the club eager to give the teenager the opportunity to get serious, competitive game-time under his belt before returning to the club in the summer for pre-season.

Whilst under-achievers Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo, both currently out on loan, are fighting for their respective futures at the Emirates Stadium the situation for Chuka Akpom is entirely different.

The teenager is certainly seen as a player with a future at the north London club.

However, the deal probably signals the death knell for the German Podolski and possibly even Sanogo, though the young Frenchman could perhaps salvage his career.

Overall, the move for Akpom could be the making of his Arsenal career, if he manages to live up to his almost limitless potential.

Arsenal fans will certainly be hoping so considering he has the ability to do produce magic like this…
