Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva helped Brazil to a 1-0 victory over Chile at the Emirates Stadium in London.
The two South American sides met in a friendly international that was settled by Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino.
The Germany-based attacker settled a tight fixture in the 72nd minute, when he received a fine forward ball from Danilo before rounding Claudio Bravo and finishing coolly.
Despite nominally being a ‘friendly’ fixture, there was some bad blood between these two Latin American rivals, and former Cardiff City man Gary Medel was fortunate to have avoided a sanction after stamping on Neymar.
Arguably, Thiago Silva was also lucky to have avoided a red card. The PSG man was booked in the first half after bringing down Pablo Hernandez, and could feasibly have been shown a second yellow on 50 minutes when he fouled Eugenio Mena.
The PSG man played the full 90 minutes of the match, starting alongside Atletico Madrid’s Miranda.
