Liverpool are ready to move for Leeds United full-back Sam Byram despite interest from Sunderland and Southampton, reports the Daily Star.
The Reds are ready to pay £8 million for the 21-year-old according to the Star after manager Brendan Rodgers scouted the player himself last month. Other members of staff had watched the player six times this season before the Northern Irishman went down to check him out himself.
The young defender has already made over 100 appearances for the Whites and as such has a good grounding of experience that could make his potential transition at Liverpool easier.
The wing-back could help Brendan Rodgers fill something of a problem area which as been filled by both Raheem Sterling in recent weeks, neither of whom are naturals in the position.
Rodgers is known for his willingness to trust to youth and this could also prove a motivating factor should Byram indeed be considering his options.
