Leading Liverpool bog Empire of the Kop has given four pointers to Reds star Philippe Coutinho on how he can make some changes to his game to move up to the next level.
The Brazilian playmaker is fast becoming regarded as one of the best in the Premier League, but has sometimes struggled for consistency and could still do a little more to truly establish himself as the very finest in the country.
One thing Coutinho has been urged to do more is become more vocal and ‘demand the ball’ – it’s fair to say the 22-year-old can sometimes go missing in matches and might benefit more from a more authoratative approach as he becomes more of a senior figure in the team.
With only six goals this season, Coutinho could also improve his work in the penalty area, and has been called on to arrive late in the box more. With Steven Gerrard leaving this summer, his goals from midfield will be sorely missed, and this is something the youngster could do better.
Finally, Coutinho needs to pick his final pass better and play more centrally, often showing a tendancy to drift out wide and pick the easier option all too often.
