Arsenal have agreed a cut price £15 million deal for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to the Metro.
The Gunners have been linked to the France international for most of the season, but mostly for the far higher price of £25 million according to the report. This deal is almost half that fee, meaning that the manager Arsene Wenger could well have more money to spend on other moves if it were to go through.
The 25-year-old has been part of a Southampton side which has overachieved over the last two seasons despite numerous departures. This could be the latest in this string of players leaving.
The North London club already have Francis Coquelin playing well in Schneiderlin’s defensive midfield role, but they could do with having another player who can play in the role. The addition of the Saints ace could well help Wenger to orchestrate a title challenge next time round alongside other new signings.
