Reading have got what they deserved for their efforts as McCleary netted the equaliser for the Championship side with a smart finish at the back post but Wojciech Szczesny could’ve done better.
Arsenal failed to keep up the intensity in the second half after taking the lead against Reading with a well worked goal from Alexis Sanchez in the first half. Arsene Wenger will certainly not have been happy with how his side defended for the goal.
All three players who were introduced into the team today were at fault for the goal, Debuchy gave the throw-in away and Gibbs lost McCleary at the back post. McCleary’s effort lacked pace and took a little nick of Gibbs, but Szczesny failed to keep it out at a second attempt and the ball just crossed the line.
All credit to Reading’s McCleary however and suddenly Arsenal have a game on their hands from a previously comfortable position.
