De Nigris had only been on the pitch for six minutes when he got the goal. America twice failed to clear their lines, and eventually Raul Lopez managed to play in the veteran forward. America keeper Moises Munoz got a hand to the ball, but couldn’t prevent it sneaking into the bottom corner.

31 year old Aldo de Nigris is a well-known footballer around the world. After making his debut for his home-town team Tigres UANL in 2002, he has gone on to play for Veracruz, Necaxa, Monterrey, and now Chivas. He has 28 caps for the Mexican national team, scoring nine goals.

He suffered personal tragedy in 2009 when his older brother – Antonio de Nigris – suffered a heart attack while playing for Greek side AEL 1964 and died. He was only 31.
