Tottenham are looking to Almeria keeper Julian Cuesta as a potential replacement for Manchester United target Hugo Lloris, reports the Daily Express.
The Frenchman could be on his way to Old Trafford if David De Gea leaves for Real Madrid in the summer. The 24-year-old’s contract with the Red Devils finishes at the end of next season, and if he doesn’t sign a new one it could mean that they sell the keeper to get some kind return on their star player.
Cuesta has been in good form when playing for Almeria in the current campaign, helping them to stay clear of the relegation spaces so far. However, the 24-year-old isn’t actually first choice for the La Liga minnows, making it seem risky to sign him as a direct replacement for a goalie as accomplished as Lloris.
However, at least it shows that manager Mauricio Pochettino has a plan should he lose his captain. The North London side won’t want to make transfer errors such as those they suffered whilst using the proceeds from Gareth Bale’s sale.
