Arsenal are set to offer Chelsea star Petr Cech a £120,000 a week contract to try and get the goalkeeper to force a move to the Emirates, reports The Sun.
The Gunners are interested in the Czech Republic international with current pair of stoppers Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina not looking good enough for a title chasing side. Both of the goalies have made errors at times this season, and a new signing may be needed to improve on their top four position next season.
Cech has been forced out of the Blues’ team during this campaign by the return of Thibaut Courtois from a loan period at Atletico Madrid. The 32-year-old has only played 15 times in all competitions this season, with only six of those appearances coming in the Premier League. This has led to the keeper looking for a move to get some more first team action.
However, he might not end up at their North London rivals because of manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese is unlikely to want to the Stamford Bridge hero going to a direct rival. Hence Arsene Wenger offering him a hefty wage packet in order to get Cech to force a move.
