Chicharito is currently on loan at Real Madrid, and had been impressing at the Bernabeu whilst first choice striker Karim Benzema was on the sidelines. However, the Frenchman is now fit again, meaning the Red Devils ace is back on the substitutes’ bench. With the Mexico international unable to unseat his counterpart it is unlikely he will stay beyond the end of the season.

This has led to the American club signalling their interest in the striker.Brazil hero Kaka already plays for Orlando, showing the side’s ambition to bring in high profile stars.

City coach Adrian Heath said of the potential move: “He is a quality player and I don’t think there is a team in the MLS that wouldn’t want him – we are included in that. We will see if it comes to fruition. I will be delighted if it does.”

However, at just 26-years-old it would be a very young age for Hernandez to move across the Atlantic. It is also likely that several clubs will be willing to keep the forward in Europe, and maybe even in the Champions League. Any transfer to the USA would be seen as being unambitious.
