The Spaniard will likely have his position in the starting line up taken by Porto star Danilo, who is joining the club in the summer. As a result teams may be able to tempt the 23-year-old away from the Bernabeu. However, he has a contract running until 2019 with the La Liga giants, meaning that it could take a large transfer fee to acquire the right-back.

What’s more the defender has also said that he is looking forward to competing with Danilo for a position in the side.

The Spain international said on whether he’s leaving when the Brazilian arrives: “No I’ve seen him play a lot. In Madrid compete with the best, that motivates me.”

Liverpool may need a right-back with Glen Johnson leaving in the summer and Jon Flanagan ruled out for the foreseeable future with an knee injury. Meanwhile Antonio Valencia has been playing out of position for the Red Devils, and a player more used to it may be needed once they are playing in the Champions League in the next campaign.
