The striker is reportedly jaded at Paris Saint-Germain, where he has grown restless at being played out of position on the right flank and of playing second fiddle to star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The former Napoli and Palermo man is believed to have recently handed in a transfer request and looks set for the exit door at the Parc des Princes this summer.

However, while Manchester United are believed to be keen on the forward, Champions League finalists Juventus have made headway with the player and are keen to agree terms with Cavani as soon as possible.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, a representative of the player’s two agents met with officials from Juventus on Wednesday in order to discuss, in more detail, a possible summer move.

The discussions are believed to have significantly advanced the understanding between the two parties, with Cavani content with the project presented to him at Juventus.

The club, for their part, are keen to offer a four-year contract which would see the South American hitman pocket €7.5 million per season.

Despite his growing dissatisfaction at PSG, Cavani has been in fine form this season.

He has scored 16 goals in Ligue 1 as Laurent Blanc’s side have retained their French title, while he also added a further six in 10 appearances in the Champions League.

With one game left to play this term, Cavani has managed 29 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions for PSG and Uruguay.

Atletico Madrid have also been linked to the forward.
