The two players in question are Lyon stars Alexandre Lacazette and Nabil Fekir, who have both been instrumental to Lyon’s fine form that saw them run Paris Saint-Germain very close for the title in the French top flight.

Both players have been tipped as stars for the future for the France national team, with Lacazette scoring 31 goals in all competitions to establish himself as one of the best strikers in Europe.

Fekir, meanwhile, is an outstanding young attacking midfielder with 15 goals and 9 assists this season and looks a player who could add something to this Gunners side.

According to the Daily Star, the pair seem firmly on Arsene Wenger’s radar after the club sent scouts to run the rule of their performances, and the report adds that they would likely cost a combined £60m, with Lacazette valued at £35m and Fekir £25m.

Lacazette looks a particularly ideal signing after his oustanding individual performances this season, particularly in contrast with the inconsistent displays of Arsenal attacking duo Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck, who have just 26 goals between them in all competitions.

Alexis Sanchez is currently the club’s leading scorer with 22 goals, though he is not an out-and-out striker and leaves the side in need of a little more variety up front.

Fekir, meanwhile, does not look a priority signing given Arsenal’s options in that position, though he would arguably be an upgrade on players like Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott.
