The veteran Spanish shot-stopper has not been at his best at the Bernabeu for some time now, with calls for the club to replace him with the in-form de Gea after his excellent individual performances in the Premier League this term.

The 24-year-old would make a great long-term buy for the club and looks set to be on his way out of Old Trafford after refusing to sign a new contract ahead of the next transfer window.

According to Goal.com, the arrival of de Gea does not concern Casillas, who still insists he will be at the club next season despite speculation over his future as number one for the 2014 European champions.

Asked if he would welcome de Gea’s arrival, Casillas said: “Of course I would.”

On his own future, he added: “Yes, I will be [at Real Madrid next season].”
