Express Sport claim that the pair are not among the list of players facing the chop by manager Louis van Gaal in the summer despite both neither enjoying fruitful campaigns respectively for the Red Devils.

Reports in The Independent earlier in the month suggested that van Persie and Di Maria would be offloaded in order to fund a move for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale this summer.

The Dutchman was linked with a move to the Middle East at the weekend after stories in The Independent revealed that Qatar outfit Lekhwiya were considering a huge offer to entice him away from the England.

Meanwhile Di Maria, who signed for a club record fee of £59.7m from Real Madrid last summer, found himself behind Ashley Young in the pecking order towards the end of the season and found himself used a substitute more often than not.

However, with van Gaal hoping United are one of the main contenders for the League title next season, it appears he feels the duo are key to those plans and is set to rebuff any interest in the pair.
