Liverpool dealt massive managerial blow as Jurgen Klopp reveals he is to take break from the game

According to The Independent, the manager will be meeting with members of the club’s hierarchy to discuss their abject season, and where they go from here. The report suggests that Rodgers will not find his own position under review, however, with Jurgen Klopp waiting in the wings, it would not be a surprise to see the former Swansea boss make a big effort to rapidly change his fortunes on Merseyside.

He will begin by overseeing the signings of both James Milner and Danny Ings. The pair will move to Anfield when their contracts expire at the end of the month, The Independent report.

While the Milner deal appears to be all but done, the Reds still need to agree on a fee for Ings, as Burnley are entitled to compensation, although the matter will be settled by a tribunal if the two clubs cannot agree.

One man who may not be joining the Rodgers revolution, however, is Aston Villa forward Christian Benteke. The Independent revealed that his current manager Tim Sherwood defiantly suggested that the Belgian will not be available for a penny under his £32.5m release clause. Liverpool are unwilling to pay the full amount though, meaning the deal is currently at a standstill.
