The Welshman is set to revert to the left-hand side of a three behind the main striker next year as Benitez looks to shape the team in his style.

With rivals Barcelona clinching the treble this season, the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss will be under pressure to ensure the club avoid a second successive trophy-less campaign.

Playing as a left-winger has certainly brought about some of the best in Bale as he scored his first-ever career hat-trick for Tottenham Hotspur in a Champions League tie against Inter Milan back in 2010 while operating in this position.

Then, during his debut season for Los Blancos he single-handedly clinched the Copa Del Rey trophy after scoring the winner with a stunning solo effort in the dying stages against Barcelona.
