Louis van Gaal has been looking to bring in a right-sided defender to resolve something of a problem area in his Old Trafford squad and having previously taken an interest in Barcelona star Dani Alves and Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne the Dutch manager has set his sights on Republic of Ireland international Coleman.

The 26 year old is arguably one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and Everton’s poor campaign last season could perhaps leave the Toffees star considering his options.

Everton paid just £60k for Coleman back in 2009 and is worth in excess of £15m and if a strong offer is made for the defender then chairman Bill Kenwright may struggle to turn down such a massive profit on the former Sligo Rovers player.
