Manchester United have reportedly made a £25m bid to sign Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera this summer, according to Turkish source Vatan.

The Red Devils are seemingly big admirers of the Uruguayan international, who has caught the eye with some fine performances with Galatasaray in recent times, as well as for his national team.

Current United number one David de Gea is set to return for training with the club this week amid speculation that he could still be on his way to Real Madrid this summer, the Daily Mail have reported, and it seems like Louis van Gaal is still preparing for this eventuality if Vatan’s story about a bid for Muslera is correct.

Van Gaal already has former Barcelona shot-stopper Victor Valdes as another option in goal at Old Trafford, so there would be little need in spending such big money on a third goalkeeper, suggesting De Gea’s future is still in doubt despite the Mail’s report that he is about to meet up with his team-mates for pre-season.

Having made it into the top four again last season, United would be bitterly disappointed to lose such an important player as they try to set about becoming genuine title challengers again and recovering from the retirement of long-serving and legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
