Real Madrid open to SELLING Manchester United target, claims Spanish journalist

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is open to selling Manchester United target Sergio Ramos according to Spanish journalist Pablo Garcia Cuervo, reports the Metro.

This comes just a day after Los Merengues manager Rafael Benitez attempted to make it clear that the 29-year-old wasn’t leaving the Bernabeu. With conflicting messages coming over the player’s future, it makes it almost impossible to tell if he is indeed available for the Red Devils to buy.

Cuervo said, “Sergio has made his mind up. Florentino also wants Sergio to leave, but Real Madrid want it to seem like Sergio is the one who wants to leave because he isn’t very ‘madridista’. If Florentino Pérez wanted to keep Casillas, he hid it very well. The same is happening with Ramos.”

This seems to go directly against Benitez’s comments. When asked if the defender was staying, the former Liverpool boss said: “”For me, 100%. I insist that it is clear for me and the club, Sergio will be here. He’s a key player for us.”

United are keen to bring in the centre-back, with the possible departure of David De Gea to Los Blancos [Metro] meaning Louis van Gaal could seriously need to improve his back line. The 24-year-old made up for defensive errors from players such as Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Jonny Evans as they finished fourth last time round.

With heightened expectations in the Premier League and the Champions League to contend with next season, the news that Ramos us available could be a major boost to the 63-year-old. This is even if the arrival of the Spain international would mean his compatriot belatedly leaves the club.
