Manchester United star hits fresh stumbling block in PSG move, demanding £170k a week contract

Manchester United star Angel Di Maria has hit a new stumbling block in his mooted transfer to PSG in the form of his wage demands, reports the Daily Mail.

The 27-year-old wants a £9 million-a-year deal with the Ligue 1 champions, which would earn him £170,000 a week. However, the French side are currently short of meeting that price, offering a deal worth around £1.4 million less annually.

This is not the only setback the move has had to endure.

PSG have seen a £28 million bid for the Argentina international knocked back, with the Red Devils wanting to earn back far more of the £59.7 million they spent on him [Daily Express]. The Mail do believe that the two sides are edging closer to a fee for the forward though, leaving just the contract demands to be decided.

United are willing to sell their record signing despite him scoring four goals and assisting another 11 in 32 games during his debut season. Manager Louis van Gaal revealed that he could let the player go on compassionate grounds, after a break in to his family home disrupted his arrival and settling down in England [Sky Sports].

This means a move to the Parc des Princes may work well for all sides involved, especially as the Red Devils appear to have a replacement lined up. They have been heavily linked to Barcelona ace Pedro [Daily Star]. The Spain international can play on either wing, and has been a part of a Blaugrana outfit which has won every club title possible and will go down in history as one of the all-time great club sides.
