Benfica attacking midfielder Nicolas Gaitan is confident that he will be joining Manchester United before the end of the current transfer window, Metro Sport reports.
The Red Devils have reportedly agreed a £21.5million fee with the reigning champions of Portugal for the 27-year-old and regard him as a natural replacement for compatriot Angel Di Maria, who is closing in on a transfer to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain after just one season in English football.
Gaitan is convinced he will make the move to Old Trafford once Di Maria’s departure is confirmed and according to reports in Portugal, the former has his heart set on playing under United boss Louis van Gaal this season.
It remains to be seen whether the Argentine is still a transfer target for the Dutch manager as he has been heavily linked with a move for Barcelona winger Pedro over the past week and reports in Spain [via Mail Sport] on Wednesday morning claimed that a deal is close to completion, meaning 28-year-old is set to become the sixth new arrival at Old Trafford this summer.
