Tottenham player ratings v Manchester United: Lack of creativity HAMPERS Harry Kane and co.

Posted by

Tottenham lost 1-0 to Manchester United on Saturday, in the first game of the Premier League season.

Spurs were unable to create much against the Red Devils, and struggled to get Harry Kane in to the game. With some time left in the transfer window, the performance may encourage manager Mauricio Pochettino to bring in some more forwards before it slams shut.

The North Londoners did manage to stop their opponents from creating much in a tight encounter, but the lack of creativity hampered the White Hart Lane outfit massively.

Manchester United player ratings: Schneiderlin strong on debut, Rooney quiet v Tottenham

Here is how their players matched up…

GK) Michel Vorm, 6

Had little to do in the encounter, with only one shot on target from United. The Dutchman could also do little about Kyle Walker’s own goal.

RB) Kyle Walker, 4

Panicked with the own goal, and generally looked troubled when Ashley Young attacked down the flank.

LB) Ben Davies, 7

Both Juan Mata and Memphis Depay were unable to make any headway on their right-flank, with the former Swansea man keeping them quiet.

CB) Toby Alderweireld, 8

Very good on his competitive debut for Spurs, looking solid at the back. He also pulled out some top-class passes, and was dangerous from set pieces.

CB) Jan Vertonghen, 6

Gave away several fouls, but was part of a back line that largely suffocated the United attack.
