Arsenal star reveals Arsene Wenger behind decision to join Gunners

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has revealed that he joined the Gunners because of manager Arsene Wenger‘s work at the club, reports talkSPORT.

The attractive, technically brilliant style that the Frenchman has instilled at the Emirates Stadium was why the 26-year-old decided to join them from Real Madrid. Being a creative, if lightweight, midfielder, the Germany international fits perfectly in to the philosophy, which puts emphasis on footballing ability rather than physical prowess.

“Before I joined, I knew that Arsenal were always a technically-strong team,” said Ozil, “That’s also why I decided to join this club, because I know exactly what the manager wants from the team.

“Our game centres around playing good, technical football and that’s good. It’s thanks to the manager because he’s worked on that for years and has formulated a technically-gifted team that can dominate any opposition. That’s why we’re really pleased to have a manager like him.”

The World Cup winner has helped the team to win two FA Cups since his arrival, and will now be looking to improve their performances in the Premier League. Despite being tipped as title challengers over the summer, the North Londoners have made a shaky start to the campaign.

Their recent win over Stoke was promising, but it will take more results of that like to win over fans who are disappointed that the club failed to sign a single outfield player in the transfer window. Goalkeeper Petr Cech was the only arrival.
