Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has tipped Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher to be a Reds boss of the future, according to his new book Leading.

The former defender is an all-time great at Anfield and is still much loved by his old fans for his committed performances and great leadership on the pitch.

Carragher has shown tactical insight and intelligence in his time as a pundit for Sky and could use that well in coaching if he ever chooses a new career path.

“I have spent some time with him since I retired and have been really impressed,” Ferguson said.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes Liverpool’s manager at some point in the future.

“But first he has to decide if he wants to leave the TV studio and get back into a more challenging role in football.”

These quotes come in a time when current Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is under pressure and could be replaced.
