Arsenal have reportedly sent an official scout to cast an eye over Borussia Monchengladbach midfield star Granit Xhaka on numerous occasions, according to the Metro.

The Swiss international arrived at the Bundesliga side back in 2012, and has gone on to become a regular fixture in the first team, making 89 appearances across all competitions.

And his performances during that time has reportedly alerted Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has repeatedly sent a scout to monitor his progress, according to a report in Bild (via Sport Witness).

The report claims that the 23-year-old has a £21million (€30m) release clause installed in his contract, but that won’t become active until 2017.

Xhaka has been a regular is Gladbach’s Champions League campaign so far this season, and has already pitted himself against Premier League opposition in the form of Manchester City.
