Manchester United & Liverpool face Premier League transfer competition for ‘sensational’ £10m Championship starlet

Premier League quartet Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea may have to see off competition from Stoke City and Bournemouth to secure a move for Leeds United’s Lewis Cook.

The Daily Star report that the Leeds United starlet—christened a ‘Championship sensation’ by the tabloid—is wanted by several EPL clubs, with the Potters and the Cherries both understood to have added their names to his burgeoning list of suitors.

Cook has taken the second tier by storm this season, and despite being only 18, he has already managed 14 apps in the Championship this term, contributing one assist and establishing himself as a key figure at Elland Road.

The teenager looks set to be one for the future, and as such, it’s little surprise that there’s such considerable interest from the EPL, as heavyweight sides look to secure the shining talent for themselves.

Despite being handed a new contract in January—with Leeds clearly keen to tie the starlet down to a longer-term deal—both Stoke and Bournemouth have been taking a closer look at Cook in recent weeks.

The Daily Star suggest that Leeds value Cook around the £10m mark, but with such considerable interest in his services from the Premier League, Whites chairman Massimo Cellino may be keen to prompt a bidding war in order to recuperate maximum profit from the starlet.
