Tottenham transfer target lined up to replace Arsenal loanee

According to reports in France, AS Roma are considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s out-of-favour goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu as a replacement for Wojciech Szczesny.

The Polish keeper has impressed sporadically in the Italian capital so far this season, although it hasn’t been plain sailing, and he was dropped after being found smoking in the aftermath of Roma’s 6-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League.

However, despite a valuable save against BATE Borisov and another series of stops in the 0-0 draw at Napoli this weekend, the jury’s out on Szczesny.

Instead, Roma are keeping tabs on two talented stoppers; Matia Perrin of Genoa and Internacional’s Alisson, while simultaneously monitoring Sirigu [Le 10 Sport].

The Italian international was linked with a move to Spurs during the summer, as a potential replacement to Hugo Lloris, but ultimately remained at PSG.

However the arrival of Kevin Trapp has severely reduced Sirigu’s playing time this season, and a January exit looks likely.
