French giants prepared to sell Manchester United target if the right offer comes in

Olympique de Marseille are understood to be willing to cash in on Manchester United transfer target Benjamin Mendy, but only if the right offer comes in.

According to Mercato365 [via Le 10 Sport], OM president Vincent Labrune is willing to part with the talented full-back if a suitable financial proposal is made, with the club chief admitting that while Marseille are a proud club who are in no need to sell, they are not immune to offers for their more talented stars.

Mendy certainly falls into this category.

The young left-back is one of the most talented young full-backs in Europe, and demonstrated his class at the Stade Velodrome last season when he grew to be a key part of Marcelo Bielsa’s thrilling squad.

Mendy made 33 outings last term, contributing three assists, and has already made 15 showings so far this term, scoring once and contributing an assist.

The Daily Mail reported that Louis van Gaal sent scouts to watch Mendy in action in OM’s match against Stade Rennais earlier in the month, and the 21-year-old Frenchman could be an ideal replacement for Luke Shaw, who was injured during the Champions League and is still several months away from full fitness.

Might Labrune’s admission prompt van Gaal to move for the player as soon as the window opens?
