Chelsea transfer news: Blues to turn to in-demand £20m teenager to solve striking crisis

Chelsea are reportedly lining up a January swoop for in-demand Basel wonderkid Breel Embolo.

The 18-year-old striker has scored 16 goals in 47 matches for Basel to put himself on the radar of European giants such as Barcelona, Juventus, Arsenal and Liverpool, according to the Metro.

But the Metro adds that Chelsea are keen on signing the Swiss international in a New Year shake up of their misfiring strike force as interim manager Guus Hiddink attempts to save their season.

Blues forwards Diego Costa, Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy have scored only seven Premier League goals between them this term as the defending champions have slumped to 14th in the table.

Both Remy and Falcao have been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge this month. The Metro reports that Remy is wanted on loan by several top-flight clubs and Falcao could return to parent club AS Monaco.

Basel value Embolo in the region of £20m, according to the Metro. That is a hefty sum for an unproven youngster, but one which Chelsea may be willing to pay in order to win the race for his signature.
