Liverpool may have won the battle against Stoke City, but they may have lost the war for Champions League qualification – or even a lengthy run in the Europa League – after the latest Philippe Coutinho injury.
Fans of the Reds took to Twitter and commenced the “woe-is-me” proclamations in increasing creative ways:
Coutinho done. Season done. See you guys in August on Tumblr init

The star winger went down early in the first half of the Capital One Cup match at Britannia Stadium with a hamstring injury – a wound that will keep him out of two vital fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester United just as the Reds had managed to gain consistency in the top ten.

Coutinho is Liverpool’s second-leading scorer with five goals – all in the Premier League – tying his career-high. His 17 Premier League starts this year are tied for third on the team.
Liverpool will face Arsenal on January 13 and will face Man United the week after. With any luck, Coutinho will return in time for their Europa League legs against Augsburg in February.
