Tweets: Ruben Loftus-Cheek draws comparisons to Chelsea legend after FA Cup heroics

Chelsea‘s midfield wonderkid Ruben Loftus-Cheek had a phenomenal performance for the club against Scunthorpe United in the FA Cup fixture on Sunday, scoring the game-sealing goal in the second half. Loftus-Cheek’s incredible performance led many Chelsea fans to boldly proclaim that they had finally found their replacement for legendary midfielder Frank Lampard.

Taking to Twitter, fans compared Loftus-Cheek’s moves to those of the all-time leading Chelsea scorer (who now plays for New York City FC):

Loftus-Cheek was recruited to the Chelsea academy when he was just a few years old and finally made his debut for the senior team in 2014, making just a few appearances during the title-winning 2014-15 season.

Lampard left Chelsea in 2014 as the club’s all-time leading scorer, with numerous individual accolades and four FA Cup titles to his name. He won the FA Cup MVP honors three times and was the leading scorer in the 2006-07 tournament.
