Chelsea offer wonderkid eye-watering new deal to spurn Manchester United interest

Chelsea are understood to have offered teenage midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek a lucrative new deal in order to encourage him to ignore the interest of Manchester United.

According to the Daily Star [citing a Telegraph report from the end of 2015], the Red Devils are captivated by the midfielder, and are considering a move to bring him to Old Trafford.

Chelsea are reportedly desperate to keep hold of the wonderkid, and have thus offered him a generous £40,000-per-week contract which could keep him at Stamford Bridge for five years [as per the Star].

While the value of the deal may not be as hefty as some others at Chelsea, it would represent a considerable outlay—and a massive show of commitment—for a player who has managed only a cumulative 65 minutes of action in the top flight this season.

As well as United, the tabloid note that Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester City have also been keeping tabs on the Englishman, with any of the European heavyweights primed to step in and move for the player should his future at Chelsea become obscured.
