Manchester United issue De Gea transfer update after Real Madrid punishment; is Spanish stopper set to beat the ban?

Following the transfer ban handed to Real Madrid by Fifa, rumours have begun swirling that Manchester United keeper David De Gea will complete his long-awaited move to the Bernabeu in the coming weeks.

The Spanish stopper was linked with a move back to his homeland during the summer transfer window, but ultimately a last-minute fiasco between the two giants prevented a move from going through.

Real were handed a hefty ban by Fifa on Thursday which prevents Los Merengues from registering new players until the beginning of the 2017-18 season.

This would appear to kill any speculation that De Gea will be completing his move to join Los Blancos…unless, of course…Real move to sign him in the coming weeks.

The Spanish stopper may be aware that unless he pushes for a move to join the 10-time European champions now, he will likely be stuck at Old Trafford for another 18 months.

However, Louis van Gaal, speaking to the press, has moved to quash any suggestion that De Gea is considering agitating for a short-term move in light of Real’s sanctions.

“I don’t think that is the kind of thing that plays on the mind of David De Gea,” the Dutch coach began, as per the Mirror.

“I never thought about it in the period before the transfer window and now I am seeing David De Gea who is enjoying to stay here and play good games.”
