OK, so that was an outrageous headline, but it’s the truth!
Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked last year, made his first media appearance in what seemed like an eternity on Goals on Sunday this morning.
He wasted little time before bustin’ out some fabulously cringe anecdotes about failed transfers during his time at Anfield.
One story centred around Dele Alli – the hottest teenage talent in England right now, if not the world!
It is no secret that Liverpool wanted to sign Alli from MK Dons before he was eventually snapped up by Tottenham Hotspur, but Rodgers revealed just how excruciatingly close the Reds came to beating Spurs to his signature.
Brendo told the Goals on Sunday team that he spent two hours in a hotel room with Alli as he tried to seduce the youngster – metaphorically, of course.
Rodgers said that Alli wanted to join Liverpool, but, alas, the cheeky scamp went on to pie him off and choose Spurs instead. Damn you, persuasive Poch!
Oh well, Brendo. At least you’ve got the memories!
