Chelsea installed as favourites to bag Tottenham transfer target

Despite Newcastle United making a big-money bid to sign Saido Berahino, Chelsea have been installed as favourites to sign the West Bromwich Albion attacker.

The Mirror reported on Monday that the Magpies had made an eye-watering offer of £15 million to the Baggies in order to snare the 22-year-old frontman.

The report states that despite bolstering his midfield during the January window—the north-east heavyweights have recruited Henri Saivet and Jonjo Shelvey—Steve McClaren is keen for further additions. Indeed, the tabloid notes that the former England manager is ‘desperate’ for another centre-forward, and the club are increasing their efforts to bring Berahino to St James’ Park.

However, Bet Victor clearly aren’t convinced that the Magpies will get their man, according to the Standard, with the London source noting that while the bookies have given Newcastle 5/2 odds of landing the Anglo-Burundian hitman, Chelsea have been installed as favourites with odds of 1/2.

As noted by the Standard, Tottenham are also reportedly interested in the forward,  with Mauricio Pochettino still regarding the attacker highly.

However, the source notes that Bet Victor have given Spurs only 4/1 odds of landing the striker, meaning that the Lilywhites might need to look elsewhere as they seek cover for Harry Kane.
