Liverpool open £45m transfer talks for Real Madrid & Arsenal target

According to reports in Italy, Liverpool are keen on signing Juventus hitman Alvaro Morata.

The striker is enduring something of a miserable campaign in Serie A, where he has managed only one goal in 18 outings, and has found himself behind Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala in the pecking order in Turin, despite the summer exits of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.

According to Gazzetta World, Liverpool are not discouraged by the forward’s paucity of goals, and have opened talks with Juve over a £45 million transfer.

Daniel Sturridge’s injury problems are of increasing concern to Jurgen Klopp, who is understood to be considering cashing in on the hitman, while Christian Benteke is also yet to convince following his big-money move from Aston Villa during the summer.

Klopp has also been linked with Bayer Leverkusen striker Chicharito, but while the Mexican couldn’t play for another club this season, Morata could arrive at Anfield and make an instant impact.

However, the Reds may yet face competition from Real Madrid, who are understood to be keen on bringing their former starlet back to the Bernabeu, while Arsenal are also understood to be keen on the attacker.
