After spending weeks on the sidelines with an injury, Liverpool striker Philippe Coutinho made his return in style, banging in an early second-half goal to equalize an FA Cup replay with West Ham United.
Within two minutes of the second half starting, Christian Benteke drew a foul in the box that resulted in a free kick. Rather than try to hit the ball over the line of players, the crafty Coutinho pea-rolled the ball underneath them as they tried to jump for it – and the result was a goal for the Reds.
The match was Coutinho’s first appearance for Liverpool since a January League Cup match with Stoke City. The goal was his first since he recorded a goal and an assist in a November upset win against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium.
