Newcastle offered stunning deal to sign Ronaldinho: Samba star set to sign this week?

Premier League strugglers Newcastle United have apparently been offered the chance to sign Brazilian megastar Ronaldinho this week, according to The Sun.

The 35-year-old is currently a free agent since leaving Fluminense at the end of last year and is now available to move outside of the transfer window.

And it now seems that after years of speculation, he could finally be about to head for England. Leicester City have been credited with an interest, but the latest reports are claiming that Newcastle have been offered a deal.

However, the player’s UK agent Barry O’Connor believes that Ronaldinho’s wage demands of £6m-per-year may have killed the deal and prevented it from going through.

“He sees playing in England as the ideal way to finish his career,” he said.

“Asking any club to pay that, no matter his past pedigree, is a big ask.”
