Serie A giants want Chelsea starlets in exchange for £36m-rated star

Antonio Conte may have to give up more than a little excess cash if he wants to land Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan this summer. The Serie A giants are apparently looking for much more money as well as a prized Chelsea prospect in order to complete a transfer for their ace midfielder.

According to Il Tempo [per the Metro], Roma are seeking a £36.1 million transfer fee – considerably more than the £28 million Chelsea were offering – in exchange for Nainggolan. However, the report also indicated that Roma are seeking to land one of Chelsea’s top prospects in a swap as well. The names Il Tempo suggested were 20-year-old Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Andreas Christensen.

Nainggolan earned Serie A Team of the Year honours for the 2014-15 season after scoring five goals in 35 Serie A appearances and helping Roma earn Champions League qualification.

Loftus-Cheek has seen his minutes increase under interim manager Guus Hiddink, and he has performed admirably in his limited time on the pitch.

Christensen is currently on loan to Borussia Monchengladbach after making his debut with the Chelsea first team last season.
