Influential Chelsea star fully committed to club as he rubbishes exit talk

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has denied being in contact with any other club and reaffirmed his commitment to the Premier League side.

It has been a difficult season for Chelsea who will be without Champions League football next season, with incoming boss Antonio Conte potentially making several changes to the squad.

The combination of the absence from Europe as well as interest from elsewhere suggested that the 23-year-old could be on the move this summer, but he has dismissed talk of an exit.

“I have never had any contact with PSG,” he told Le Parisien.

“I have played a lot against PSG recently – twice last season, again this season in a friendly and twice more in the Champions League this year. They are a good club who win their league easily.

“Me, I like playing in England. Paris is a very good club but I am happy at Chelsea.”

Courtois went on to add that Chelsea aren’t the first club to suffer such disappointment in recent years, and conceded that speculation was natural as the players start to focus on regrouping and coming back stronger next season.

His show of faith will be a welcome boost for Conte given the Belgian’s standing of being one of the best shot-stoppers in Europe, and it will certainly present him with one less headache in the summer transfer market if Courtois had pushed for a move.

The Italian tactician has plenty of work to do when he arrives at Stamford Bridge later this summer, but it appears as though he should be able to rely on the core of the current squad moving forward and that could help him during a tricky transitional period upon his arrival in England.
