Arsenal star voted as Germany’s Euro 2016 player of the tournament

Arsenal’s star playmaker Mesut Ozil has been voted as Germany’s ‘player of the tournament’ for this summer’s Euro 2016.

The 27-year-old was one of the stars of the show for Joachim Low’s side but was unable to lead his team to the final. Ozil scored one goal and provided one assist during Germany’s run to the semi finals. The former Real Madrid man also boasted a pass accuracy of 91% and created 48 chances for his team mates during the tournament.

Ozil was voted as Germany’s ‘player of the tournament’ on the German FA’s official website.  Germany were eliminated by the hosts France in the semi finals.

The 27-year-old was also named in the Opta team of the tournament for Euro 2016 – the only other Germany international player to make it Toni Kroos. Ozil finished last season as the leading assist provider in the Premier League (19) and was name Arsenal player of the season.
