Mesut Ozil provided an incredible 19 assists for Arsenal in the Premier League last season and the star playmaker is once again favourite to become the assist king this term.
The Evening Standard state that the bookies have set Ozil’s odds to be crowned assist king at 2/1. Ozi was just one assist one off matching Thierry Henry’s record of 20 despite racking up 16 bby the end of 2015.
However, the profligacy of Ozil’s teammates was surly to blame as the Germany international created up an astonishing 144 goal-scoring chances for his side.
Ozil is a major doubt for this weekend’s encounter with Liverpool after starting pre-season training this week.
The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is facing a selection crisis after a long-term injury to Mertesacker and an injury to the Brazilian defender Gabriel who was was stretchered off during a pre-season game.
